A few years ago, I saw an Allergy and Immunologist, because I had begun listing to the right in my chair, and falling to the right. I had severe pain in the left side of my face, and I was exhausted all the time, which was not typical for me. The doctor attributed this reaction to my body trying to correct itself for balance. He discovered that I have a medical challenge that less than 10 percent of the population in the world ever experiences. The idea of surgery was explored, but no guarantees were possible.
I chose to forego the surgery, and I continue to make that same choice every year. Ironically, I found Nia at that time. It is true that core work is paramount for balance, but it is Nia that I believe benefits me the most. When I started taking your class, I could not stand upright and simultaneously watch my hand go above my head. Today, I can do this with ease. I will never know how long this miracle will last, but I wanted you to know how your Nia class has enhanced my life. |
