Kristen Coury

Nia Instructor

After taking Nia classes for more than 5 years with Amy, Kristen decided to become a certified Nia instructor. To ensure that she fully understood all that the Nia Technique had to offer, Kristen studied with Nia Co-Founder, Debbie Rosas, at the International headquarters for The Nia Technique in Portland, Oregon, and with Nia Co-Founder Carlos Rosas, at the Kripalu Yoga Center in Massachusetts. Throughout the years Kristen continued to study and apprentice with Amy, while preparing for her Nia certification. In July, Kristen received her White Belt Certification in The Nia Technique from France-Laude Godard, at the prestigious L'Ecole de Danse de Paris.

In addition to teaching Nia, Kristen is a certified practitioner of the Lightworks Healing Method (www.lightworksmethod.com, a certified level one Reiki Master, and a ballroom dancer, competing around the state of Florida. Kristen is the Founder and Producing Artistic Director of Gulfshore Playhouse (www.gulfshoreplayhouse.org), a professional theater company in Naples, Florida. Her work as a theater director, directing Tony Award-winning and a host of other Broadway and film actors, along with her knowledge of choreography, artistry, and body styling, help her fully understand and communicate movement. From her ballroom dancing, she is able to distill movement to its essence, and convey it easily and joyfully through Nia.

"I was drawn to Nia because not only was it the first time I truly experienced joy while working out, but I enjoy the creativity, spirituality, and full-body workout that Nia provides. Although a challenging cardio dance class, Nia invites you to tune in and work with your own body for maximum results. Nia's energetic music, fun dance steps, and body transforming martial arts moves, will make Nia your most favorite workout yet. I look forward to dancing with you, and showing you what Nia has to offer."
Testimonials
Larry Walker, who's 6-3 & weighs 233, reduced his body fat from 17-18% to 11-12% by working out daily with strength and speed specialist Rick Lademann. Lademann designed Walker's program specifically to enhance his baseball skills. The difference in Walker was evident from the start of spring training.
